Skulpturenpark Köln

In a many sided œuvre Martin Kippenberger (b. 1954 in Dortmund, d. 1997 in Vienna) combined the presentation of his own person as "enfant terrible" and anti-artist, with art-historical quotations, trivia and objects from subculture into a unity of the public, the private and the (anti-) artistic. He assembled his sculptures and installations from any and every available material and medium. For his unfinished Metro-Net (1993-97) he installed a Metro ventilation-shaft and an entrance to an imaginery metrosystem at various sites throughout the world - in this way ironising the subject of global networking.
