Skulpturenpark Köln

In an œuvre which spans several genres, Johannes Wohnseifer (b.1967 in Cologne) weaves a hermetic, associative network of autobiographical elements, which he constantly relates to parallel political, cultural and socioeconomic phenomena in the German Federal Republic. His sculptures, installations and video works comment from a firmly subjective perspective on subjects like the RAF and the summer 1972 Olympics integrating allusions to design history and art history, as well as relevant mythologised male components of Lifestyle/Pop culture. He began to be exhibited internationally while he was assistant to Martin Kippenberger (1992-97).
