Valerie Krause placed her sculpture in a window section of the Garden Gallery designed by Sou Fujimoto, so that the view from inside is diverted towards the horizon. Here the aluminum disc with its polished surface looks like an abstract sign. Viewed from outside, the rough, amorphous aluminum object looks like a fossilized abstract landscape. In this polarity the artist evinces the open relationship between inside and out, which the architecture has already predefined, and does so via a subtle image.
